About Us

The Richmond Cultural Seminars was formed by a group of people involved in the arts, in business and in psychotherapy, who wished to do two things:

First, create a series of presentations in a salon format that would challenge our assumptions, open new doorways to thought, and enrich the imaginations of themselves and others;

And second, to create alliances and associations among other individuals and institutions who felt the same way.

For two years we ran a series of monthly Salons at our studio, inviting creative people to present us, and challenge us, with their ideas, creations and work. This covered everything from meditations on nature to music, psychodrama, film and philosophy.

Later we took it upon ourselves to create a series of short videos on DVD that explored various cultural topics in a strange new way: combining ancient thought with new media and postmodernism. The result has been a series of unusual perspectives we think you will not find anywhere else. We call these Groundwork Videos. We are developing new DVDs which will be announced here as they become available.

We had been presenting monthly at the Salon L'Espresso on Bloor Street in Toronto, and thank Joe Mercurio for giving us space there. We have now moved to the McLuhan Coach House. Check SHOWINGS for time and place.
